Breakdown
How the Year works:
Hope08 has based 2008 around five ‘high points’ of activity. The High Points are as follows:
Fresh Hope – January and February – churches ran lifestyle courses and invited local people. Courses ranged from financial freedom and debt counselling to fitness classes.
The Big Hope – Easter – churches expressed Easter in ways that were celebratory, expressive and inclusive. Projects included Passion Plays in city centres, giving out free hot cross buns and random acts of kindness.
Hope on the Streets – May and June – churches are aiming to reach a target of a million hours of kindness, by working together to deliver social action projects to the people in their local areas.
Hope Explored – churches offering an explanation for their actions by inviting people to take part in courses that explain Christianity.
The Gift of Hope – making Christmas accessible, and celebrating all that the year has seen happen.
The Summer is also a time of many social action projects, as young people make the most of school holidays and get involved with the million hours of kindness…
