Roy talks a bit about the vision of HOPE Together
I can't help but get excited when I hear stories of churches working together to serve, and witness to, their communities. Often the streams of churches uniting have very different traditions and ways of working and God delights when his people come together in true unity for the sake of sharing the Gospel. Let's do more of that!
The purpose behind HOPE is to support and facilitate more mission, mission together and mission through word and action - sharing the love of Jesus with others. Our desire is to see long lasting spiritual change in the lives of individuals and whole communities transformed.
We recognise that we need to encompass the whole breadth of UK Christians under the HOPE banner and now HOPE is moving up a gear! The appetite for mission in this country has never been this great, and the desire to work together for the sake of those outside the Church community is finding its expression through HOPE. I am thrilled to see movements, church streams and denominations signing up to partner with us.
We are launching HOPE Together with the Redeemed Christian Church of God as a demonstration of just one of the many partnerships that we want to build on. Revelation 7:9 speaks about people from every tribe, nation and tongue coming to worship at the throne of the lamb. More people are reached for the gospel when we work in unity with our brothers and sisters and where God finds this kind of unity He commands a blessing (Psalm 133).
If HOPE is going to achieve anything further we have got to go out and we have to ask God to intervene and break in. We need to pray and act together.
It is not up to us to tell you how to do mission because no-one knows your area’s needs like you do. What works for a village may not suit a city. But HOPE Together will encourage you to use key opportunities to gradually build each year for the next four years leading to a massive all-out year of mission in 2014!
Come along with us on this journey. |
