A group of churches in North London have caught the vision of Hope08 and are running a training camp over 3 days followed by 6 days of community events and outreach. There will be around 300 youth camping with 200 adults coming as day visitors, following an adult stream and working with the youth on the outreaches.

Churches who want to be involved can send their folks along for the training and then host an outreach team of 20-30 people. They will provide food and accommodation for the team, probably giving them the use of church halls for sleeping in.

Each church will run a 6 day mission programme, preferable based within a local community. They will hold events such as youth clubs, children’s holiday clubs, family fun days and older people’s retreats. The churches would also get involved with positive action events into the community, for instance a litter pick up or graffiti clean up.

The idea of the event is to train and equip our young people and adults for outreach and to provide a resource for local churches who need help to run summer events. There are many church leaders who have been inspired by Hope08 to further look outwards to their local communities and 0808 has been formed in response to this desire.
