Primary school mums make impact

During the last weeks of the school term the children and staff at Outwoods Edge Primary school worked hard to produce 700 plus flags expressing their hopes. For nearly three years a group of mums from a primary school in Loughborough have been meeting monthly to pray for the school. The parents are from a range of denominations but are united in their care and interest in serving the school.

For the last couple of years the group have formed a strong relationship with the school leadership and go into the school and present Easter lessons to the pupils. As a result they have seen a marked increase in interest in the Christian faith among the people they come into contact with.

This Easter, they wanted to do that bit extra so have created a display of Hope.  All the children, staff and families decorated a bunting flag to show what they hope for.

Ellie Griffin, from Reside in Loughborough, said: "We were touched by the depth of thought some of the flags expressed and it gave us an insight into the hopes of the school community. The hopes could be for themselves or families, for the school or community, or they could be bigger thinking about the whole world. We wanted it to be long enough to surround the whole school in Hope. It is a fantastic witness from just a small group of mums who committed a small amount of time to the school and the community – awesome."

On Monday 11^th April they presented them attached together to the school in their Easter assembly and the local paper came to take a photo. 

On Maundy Thursday (21st April) Reside held an Easter Event on Grange Park where residents had the opportunity to add their hopes to the display. The whole display is being collected so that it can be hung at Rainbows Children’s Hospice spreading the hope even futher.
